Dear Bob,

I need answers to these questions:

Why are there no consequences when politicians do wrong?

It is all about a hypothetical company, a big one, let’s call it Amalgamated Juggernaut, Inc.  It is an industrial giant, run by  one person, President and CEO Darwin Bodacious. This outfit is the biggest maker of widgets in the world. Things have been slipping for the last few years, pretty much since

Bodacious  took over. Blaming the last president, a man named Fred W. Shrub, isn’t working anymore.  Sales are down, the competitors who once feared Amalgamated’s powerful reputation, now snicker. Instead of building assets, CEO Darwin lets the key components go. The Amalgamated Juggernaut HQ needs paint and repairs to its infrastructure. Employees and what customers there are left are no longer believing they will be able to keep their old  company products if they like them. Despite what his accountants warn, he spends more than he takes in. Equalizing the wages of the company employees regardless of what they do is reducing their productivity, morale and drive. He overrules his board of directors. Juggernaut’s bylaws and rules no longer apply to his decisions unless it suits the Bodacious’ imperial ways. People have begun to catch on that his signature strategy is going to bring the company to its knees by replacing a working system with one that has failed elsewhere. The shareholders approval rating is way down.

Got the picture?

So Pop Quiz time, Multiple Choice, pick all that apply!

If you were this leader, would you—

A) Continue on with these policies and actions

B) Take a vacation

C) Play golf

D) Work on your Brackets

E) All of the above

If you picked “E” you win the prize. Go to the head of the class.

Now for your homework assignment: Amalgamated Juggernaut’s President and CEO,Darwin Bodacious, falls victim to a hostile takeover, gets a $500,000,000 golden parachute and leaves to live the dream on the coast of Costa Rica. His successor is Esmeralda Wyndham-Upp, who just burst through the glass ceiling.  You are now an enlightened Esmeralda.

You have seen the error of the Bodacious reign.Your homework  assignment is to see if you can straighten out this mess before it is too late. The life of your company is at stake.
