Concrete Truss Screed – Bartell Morrison Concrete Equipment

Concrete Truss Screed – When you are pouring concrete, unless you are extremely fortunate or have the concrete gods smiling upon you, rare is the time when you finish that the concrete is at the exact elevation or smoothness you need. This is because of the way the concrete pours from the truck, the weather and how it’s affecting the concrete, and other variables too lengthy to mention. One way to achieve the proper elevation and smoothness is to use a truss screed.

A concrete truss screed is a tool that is dragged across the surface of freshly poured concrete to remove any excess and smooth the surface. The screed’s surface is generally smooth and flat, but it can be shaped in any formation to help you achieve the surface you need, such as curved or concave. Since no concrete pour is the same nor of the same size, different types of concrete screeds are needed. As any craftsman will know, it’s best to have the right tool for the right job.

Gamka has been one of the longest running dealers for this product line. It started for us back in 1988 when we took on these Morrison Concrete Truss Screeds. We started pioneering and introducing the product line to contractors by demonstrating how effective it is and productive. We have maintained several rental machines and they really last.Morrison sold out to several companies over the years but maintained the quality of the product and the great designs. Bartell is the latest owner and I think it has found a great home. Bartell is a solid company with a great understanding of how the concrete process works. We are proud to handle this product line.     JR Weiss – President of Gamka Sales Co. Inc.

Bartell Morrison Inc. has been a leading manufacturer of concrete finishing equipment for more than 60 years.  The company was founded in 1946. The business grew and quickly became the dominant supplier of concrete finishing power trowels to the Canadian market. Over the years we’ve grown and expanded our markets to a world wide scope. We’ve also expanded our product lines to offer a full complement of equipment for the entire concrete industry.  We go to market under three brand names, Bartell, Morrison, and Independent Diamond Products (IDP). The factory is located in a 50,000 sq.ft. facility in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada and our US Sales and distribution center is located in Freehold, NJ.

Bartell Morrison Company History

Bartell was founded by Art Bartell in 1946 as a machine tool and die shop. They began to manufacture concrete finishing power trowels for the local construction industry in the mid 1960’s and quickly became the dominant supplier to the Canadian market. In the 1970’s Art’s son, Lee Bartell, initiated the international export of Bartell products to Europe and the United States. In the late 1980’s Lee Bartell took over the business and built the custom facility in Brampton, Ontario.

The 1990’s saw expansion of sales into South America, Australia and the Far East. In September of 1999 Lee sold the business to Terex Corporation and it became Terex Bartell Ltd. In March 2007, the company returned to private Canadian ownership, a change lead by Tom Foskett, former GM of Terex Bartell, John Locke and a select group of managers. With the addition of the Morrison line of products, the company emerged as Bartell Morrison Inc.

The company’s product lines consist of Bartell walk behind power trowels, ride-on power trowels, vibratory plate compactors, surface preparation machines, cut-off saws, diamond blades; and Morrison screeds, uni screed, sprayers, spreaders and internal eccentric vibrators.
