Krystol Concrete Crack Repair SystemHow It Works
At best, concrete cracks are just an unattractive nuisance. At worst, they lead to leaks that can damage the interior of the building, corrode steel reinforcements and ultimately shorten the life of the concrete structure. Kryton’s Krystol Concrete Waterproofing System is the complete way to repair cracks and create durable, waterproof structures.
Krystol Crack Repair System is used to permanently waterproof leaking cracks, joints, and holes in concrete. It is installed in place of other less reliable crack repair systems and allows the concrete to be protected from any direction, even under high hydrostatic pressure.
Glossary of Terms:
Positive Side Waterproofing defined as – An application where the waterproofing systems and source of hydrostatic pressure are on the same side of the structural element.
Most structures should have the waterproofing applied to the outside of the structure if possible. That is where the source of the water is typically coming from and trying to enter your basement. Once this option has been tried and failed because of using the wrong material, incorrectly installed or movement and cracking beyond the materials ability to bridge those cracks, you start to lose options. Really at that point, you can either dig it up again and reinstall a new system or try negative side waterproofing options.
Negative Side Waterproofing defined as – An application wherein the waterproofing system and source of hydrostatic pressure are on opposite sides of the structure.
This is where the system is installed on the inside of the structure. It is the most challenging since the water is coming from the outside and wants to push any coating on the inside of the wall off the wall. This suystem has to be really good. Paints, epoxies and most coatings will literally just bubble off the wall and make a huge mess.
